B&K Precision Introduces New Modular Data Acquisition Recorder

B&K Precision, a leading designer and manufacturer of reliable, cost-effective test and measurement instruments, has recently announced the expansion of its Data Acquisition Recorder line with the DAS1800. This all-in-one unit offers an extensive set of features with an all new user-friendly interface designed to reduce the learning curve and improve overall efficiency. It also raises the bar for performance and configurability.

The DAS1800 provides sample rates of up to 1 MSa/s, a configurable base unit with 10 module slots, large internal solid-state drive of 2 TB, a 15.6 inch, full HD multi-touch display and optional internal battery lasting up to 3.5 hours on a single charge. The battery configured model only weighs 15 lbs — making it the lightest all-in-one system in its class and ideal solution for field testing.

Measurement Modules

The DAS1800 supports a variety of measurement modules that can be mixed and matched to suit different applications. The modules available today include:

Module Channels Input Type Voltage Range Temperature Range Current Range Resistance Range Sample Rate
Universal 4 Isolated Up to 600 V DC or 424 V RMS Thermocouples With shunt N/A Up to 1 MSa/s/ch
High Impedance 4 Isolated Up to 600 V DC or 424 V RMS Thermocouples With shunt N/A Up to 1 MSa/s/ch
Multiplexed 8 Non-isolated differential Up to ± 48 V Thermocouples and RTDs 4-20 mA with shunt Up to 10 kΩ Up to 5 kSa/s

The universal module can measure voltages, temperatures, and currents with high accuracy and resolution. The high impedance module is a variant of the universal module with 10 MΩ for ranges ≥ ± 1 V and 25 MΩ for ranges ≤ ± 0.5 mV, which is suitable for measuring high impedance signals without loading effects. The multiplexed module can measure voltages, temperatures, currents, and resistances with a lower sample rate but a higher channel count.

Software Features

The DAS1800 comes with a comprehensive software that allows users to easily set up, visualize, and analyze data. Users can store and recall sensor information from the customizable sensor library, which saves time and reduces errors. Users can also create custom dashboards to display data in real-time as waveforms or numeric values, and add annotations, cursors, and math functions. Users can playback recordings and navigate to points of interest using touch gestures such as pinch to zoom and one finger scrolling. The DAS1800 also supports exporting data in various formats such as CSV, MAT, TDMS, and HDF5.

B&K Precision also provides free DASpro software for viewing and analyzing recorded data on a PC. DASpro can open multiple files simultaneously, perform advanced calculations, and generate reports.
